This course introduces the students to the world of Logic Arrays. Students learn how these configurable devices are used as sandboxes to design and test complex digital circuits. Two main logic array families, CPLD and FPGA, are introduced, and the students learn about the characteristics of each family. They learn about the development tools used to design for and configure these logic arrays. Students will design simple logic circuits using schematic based design tools. For larger and more complex designs, students learn about high level HW design languages like VHDL and Verilog. They are introduced to the basic concepts of Verilog to get them ready for the next course "Logic Arrays, Intermediate".
