In this course, the students learn about the more advanced concepts of the high level HW language, Verilog. They also learn about test benches and how to simulate their designs. Throughout this course, the students will be designing representative digital circuits and testing them on logic array prototyping platforms. System on Chip (SOC) systems are introduced next as design platforms that have the flexibility of logic arrays for HW design in addition to built in processors for tasks that are easier done in SW. The students will learn about the interaction between these embedded processors and the HW blocks they design. This course completes the sequence on "Digital Electronics" with a capstone project where the students work in teams to design and test a circuit targeting an SOC platform.
